Do you and your family have a case of the winter blues? Set up a Winter Family Art Afternoon with your favourite snacks to banish those winter doldrums!
Two solid months into winter and we’ve really had enough of this rain and cold – ya know!?
So in an attempt to beat the winter doldrums, we decided to spend an afternoon by the fire, crafting bright and colourful flowers, enjoying some yummy snacks… and just hanging out together.
As my girls get bigger, the more I’m enjoying the collaborative art projects we can all contribute something to. The flower wall we had planned is perfect for a collaborative project. The goal was to make as many big and bright flowers we could! All you need is some green card, crepe paper in various colours, glue and scissors.
My youngest, Belle, liked me to cut shapes out of various colours that she could then glue together in various ways to make something she could call her own. And my eldest two, Lola and Ava, really loved coming up with their own ideas for petal and leaf shapes – and it was fun to watch them get more creative as the afternoon went on.
After the flowers were all dry, we used blue tac to fix all the flowers to a wall in our lounge. I love it so much – each time I pass the wall it makes me smile to think of the fun we had making the flowers ☺️
Of course, we are the family that still has decorations up from our New Year’s Eve party – eep! So these flowers will probably brighten our day for a long time to come! 😂😂😂
All that crafting was tough work 😉 so of course we had to have some yummy snacks to get us through the afternoon!
There is something about mulled apple juice that I think is the bee’s knees! We make it in a crockpot and it makes the whole house smell amazing! It’s so easy to make – if you’ve never given it a go, I can highly recommend it.
And also, nothing says mid-winter snack to me like scones! These Savoury Buttermilk Scones are super yummy and easy to make…
